Introduction
Hey guys, if you know me I love criticising things - or at least I think I do. Today I am pointing out the reasons (another way to say criticising) why I love/dislike MacBook Air. I know what most of you are thinking - Why in the world would you ever hate an Apple product? Well, because there are a lot of things that annoy me in a MacBook Air in General. Right now I have 2 MacBook Airs - 1 from school for school work and another from my brother (We have this system that if you stay in the school for three years you can buy the laptop for just 1 euro - (yea, I know we are so amazing) This review is actually a school project so expect the best. Anyways, enough chit chat and let's get to it!
Pros
No matter how you look at the MacBook Air I think everyone will agree with me when I say it looks sophisticated and business like. It lives up to its cost of $1099, which of course is really expensive. Because of this we tend to be extra careful and cautious about handling the MacBook air with care. The cost makes sure that not everyone can get a new MacBook air. I mean it's only eligible for people with large amounts of money or for very high ranked schools and such. But the good thing is that the MacBook Air is portable. You can take it with you on a train, in school, a bus or just keep it at home if you want to enjoy a lovely Friday movie night. Most MacBook airs are seen and used mainly in urban cities and urban areas. The MacBook Air comes in different sizes. The one I have is 11 inches. You can get a 13 inch one if you are used to larger laptops. The battery power stays for 9 hours and sometimes more when fully charged. Mine always goes up 9 hours and 30 minutes. The MacBook Air has 2 USBs, 1 thunderbolt, one headphone jack and of course the magnetic power socket. A little trick you can do with the brightness of your laptop - put it on the lowest level of brightness and then shine a lamp light on the screen, this automatically powers up the laptop and your brightness will go to one of the higher levels. The power lit keys are gorgeous especially when you want to search things up at night. The track pad has many facilities - clicking with 2 fingers will give you an options bar, scrolling up with 3 fingers takes you to your overview of desktops, swiping right or left will take you to different desktops if you have any - and is able to do much more. On laptopmag.com, they have studied the speed of the MacBook Air. It shows that the MacBook air took only 3 minutes and 55 seconds to pair 20,000 names and addresses onto Open Office, which is 30 seconds faster than the MacBook. Even though the Air does not come in colours, you have cases that you can fix on the MacBook Air to make it look more fancy. The keys don't have to be pressed in too deep to make them work, it's sleek and smooth and the surface is shiny and serene. Now, let me stop talking for a moment about the good things and let me move on to some of the not-so-favourable things ...Muahahahahah!
Cons
The MacBook air 11-inch does not have a SD card slot or a disk drive that is implanted into the laptop. A new Macbook Air has perfect qualities, but after used for 3 or more years the battery efficiency starts to lessen and websites with unnecessary ads pop up more. Studies show that the 11-inch Macbook Air is actually heavier than the 12 inch Macbook by 0.38 pounds! It's supposed to be air light! The Macbook Air only shows 67.4 percent of the sRGB colour gamut - which means it won't be able to show the colours as well as the XPS13 at 91.7 percent. If you ever drop your bare Macbook Air on the floor or jam it against something hard you usually get a scar on your laptop...which shows exactly how much care you've been giving it. If you do get a dent or scar, the screen might crack, the inner system might get jumbled, it might even shut down and stop working or you have pay all over again and waste another $1099 in addition to losing all your personal data - that's how risky a fall of a Macbook Air can be, I am not necessarily saying that this doesn't happen to other laptops as well but I am saying the Macbook Air is much more frail, delicate and thinner than most other laptops like DELL.
Macbook Air vs OLPC
OLPC is a project to provide every child with an XO laptop. The acronym represents 'One Laptop Per Child.' Some children and elders gave reviews and here's a short summary of what they said - The XO is colourful, It even has an antenna, it's fun and has a foldable case connected to the laptop, It is not boring or too elderly-ish but is fit for an imaginative person, it is portable, it has wireless wifi, it has games and it is a fun way to learn, the keyboard can be changed to different languages, there’s a drawing pad, there's a foot pedal to power it by energy, it also has solar panels to get powered by the sun, it shows how design can be creative in one of the world's most compressing issues, it costs only $100 which is very cheap and is made specifically for harsh weather and non-electricity areas.
The Macbook Air comes from a line of famous generations - iPod, Macbook etc. Personally I have loved every Apple product so far. In my opinion I do not really care if the MacBook air doesn't look 'fun', I like it business-like and stylish just the way it is. Although it might be 10 times the cost of the OLPC, it does have better features like a much more colourful desktop, comfortable typing and etc.
Conclusion
Although there are a few cons about the Macbook air, it is a very fine piece of art, which lives up to its cost and customers as a useful device at all times. It might not have solar panels or foot pedals but the efficiency it gives us is way more than enough (It also makes everyone fascinated and I literally love my Macbook Air)
